      Via differentiation. Plant cells contain within them genetic material which enables to direct developmental processes. Therefore as leaf cells divide, some of the cells are programmed or instructed by the Genetic material (DNA) to form stomata.

      Similarly in our bodies some cells are directed during devlopment (as an embryo) to form fingers, nose or eyes. This process of formimg specific tissues is called differentiation.
