      A rainbow is caused by the bending, separation and reflection of light by water droplets in the air. Sunlight appears white but it’s actually made up of different colors including red, yellow, green, violet… When sunlight interacts with water droplets in the air, the colors may become visible in the form of a rainbow. If you are looking at a rainbow, the sun will most likely be behind you. Next time you see a rainbow, try to note your position relative to the sun.
