Plants have no liver, but their cells are still able to clean the plant mainly using golgi bodies and mitochorial enzymes and other proteins to modify toxic substances. This substances are commonly stored in the vacuole away from the cytosol to avoid disruption of cellular processes.

The liver also makes proteins and enzymes which are very important for most chemical reactions in the body such as the clotting of blood.
